About

I work in the Language and Social Interaction area and take a discourse analysis approach to interpersonal communication. I am especially interested in interpersonal and institutional conflict, how people talk about conflict, and how moral issues are addressed in communication. I have done work on discursive strategies such as reported speech, emotion, facework, positioning, identity-work, questioning, intersubjectivity practices and argument related to healthcare, local governance, political bodies, and friendship and family talk in U.S. and international contexts.
